The Unfitness to Plead Project, headed by the University of Melbourne has just released its final report on this issue. The document incorporates the views of practising experts in the field as well as a review of the current practices. The report summarises the difficulties of individuals with cognitive and intellectual impairment face in the criminal justice system.
