Unfitness to Plead Project: Final Report released

The Unfitness to Plead Project, headed by the University of Melbourne has just released its final report on this issue. The document incorporates the views of practising experts in the field as well as a review of the current practices. The report summarises the difficulties of individuals with cognitive and intellectual impairment face in the criminal justice system.

The report comments on the implementation of a Disability Justice Support Program and how this may reduce the challenges for this group in the legal arena. The report is also available in an easy-to-read format. Additional documents and publications are also available via the website
